What reviewers are saying about No Darkness:
“Excellent characterizations. A tale worthy of Poe.”
– Victor J. Banis, bestselling author
“No Darkness is a tour de force.”
– Wayne Courtois for Out in Print
“All four stories are effective in their own ways, but it’s "No Darkness" readers will remember most vividly. German shelling has trapped Lieutenant Darnell and Private Fisher in a half-collapsed basement, and while they work to escape, they edge imperceptibly closer to each other’s truths. “Well, it’s just crazy, isn’t it?” Fisher asks at one point, referring to anti-homosexual laws in England at the time, “it’s like arresting someone for having green eyes or uneven teeth.” Taylor moves his story forward with no sentiment and a terse narrative voice that makes the ending all the more arresting..”
– Steve Donoghue for The Historical Novel Society
“Bleakly
and powerfully described. I could feel the cold, the sense of being
abandoned and the increasing desperation of both men.”
– Anne Brook for Vulpes Libris
"An intriguing exploration of homosexuality and the military, highly recommended." (Referring to the whole Hidden Conflict anthology.)
– Midwest Book Review
And Wonder Dogs:
“This well-researched, engaging gem is designed for a niche audience of film buffs and German shepherd fans, but rest assured, its vivid snapshots have general readership appeal, too. . . . “Wonder Dogs” packs a bite and a can-do spirit while serving as an impassioned homage to one breed’s incredible run of powerful – and entertaining – performances.”
– The Seattle Kennel Club's Pick of the Litter Book Reviews
“Wonder Dogs is
more than just a compelling history of the German Shepherd heroes of
film and fiction. It's also an uplifting and heartfelt tribute to the
enduring bond between humans and canine companions through the ages.
Talented author and dog trainer Jordan Taylor brings her expertise and
warmth to this book for dog lovers and movie buffs to savor.”
– Susan Wiggs, New York Times bestselling author
“A delightful
romp through the history of German Shepherds in the movies. Taylor
clearly loves the book’s subjects, and her dry sense of humor makes
reviews of even the most sentimental tear-jerker films entertaining and
informative. A great book.”
– Sassie Joiris, longtime theatrical animal trainer
“Wonderful read.
Jordan Taylor is an exceptional researcher and recounts the movies with
wit and fascinating canine detail. Thank you for writing this book.”
– Stephanie Ogle, owner of Cinema Books
